Dr. Johnston is a high profile research scientist with industry and academic experience. She is currently the Vice President of Operations at Neurotez Inc and a Professor at the City University of New York. Dr Johnston is regarded an expert in neural repair and cellular imaging. Her research contributed to the discovery of leptin as a potential therapy for Alzheimerís disease and to the identification of presenilin in neuronal cells.Dr. Johnston graduated with a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of London and was a Visiting Fellow at the National Institutes of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, at the NIH, Bethesda Maryland. She has held a number of research positions including principal investigator at Rutgers University, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York and she has consulted for Johnson & Johnson. Dr Johnston has been the recipient of many awards, including from the NIH and Alzheimerís Association. In addition, Dr Johnston has taught/developed undergraduate and graduate courses in the biomedical sciences and is a highly cited author of numerous publications. Her research focuses on the development of therapeutics for neuronal repair in Alzheimerís and Parkinsonís disease.
