Biography

DR PRADEEP KUMAR RADHAKRISHNAN holds a MCh CTVS degree from the most prestigious premiere teaching institute - All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi India. He was trained by Prof V Venugopal who had done the first cardiac transplant in India. He subsequently did his postdoctoral fellowship in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery from the Sri Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Science and Technology and is India’s first postdoctoral fellow in cardiac surgery. This Institute has made India’s first indigenous heart valve and oxygenator. He had his higher training in cardiac surgery at the Mayo Clinic and Boston Children’s Hospital in USA. He was instrumental along with Prof V Venugopal in establishing world’s first fully charitable Institute in Cardiac Surgery at Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences in Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh in India. He was the coordinator of cardiac surgery at KIMS hospital Kerala for over 12 years is now a Visiting Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at Travancore Heart Institute, Travancore Medical College and Hospital, SUT Royal Group and PRS Group of Hospitals in Kerala. He has over 250 national and international publications to his credit and is a member of STS, ISMICS, EACTS, IACTS, IMA and CTSNET group of professional organizations. He specializes in beating heart total arterial bypass grafting, beating heart valve procedures, minimally invasive surgeries and total artificial heart.He was involved with Prof P Venugopal in cardiac transplantation and LV assist device implantation procedures at AIIMS.
