Biography

Dr. AsemShehabi graduated from the University of Kiel, Germany in 1972 with a Doctorate degree in Medical Sciences/ Medical Microbiology (DSc). He has spent the past 45 years of his career working as a professor in teaching Medical Microbiology and as consultant in Diagnostics Microbiology Labs at The Jordan University hospital & abroad. He has founded the Arab Alliance for Prudent Use of Antimicrobial Agents in Cairo, Egypt and held the position of Vice President for 11 years during the period 2004-2015. Since 2011, Dr. Asem is currently the Editor-in-Chief of The International Arabic Journal of Antimicrobial Agents,iMedPub.org., in addition he is being an active board member and editor in many national & international medical and scientific journals. Dr. Shehabi has been worked as free consultant for the WHO on various medical microbiological issues. He has been honored 6 times with research scholarships in USA, Germany, England and Sweden. Between 2004-2016, Dr. Asem has been the chairman of the higher Jordanian committee for Quality Control of water. Dr. Shehabi has published until now 97 research papers in peer-reviewed journals, 2 Microbiology Books & more than 300 articles and studies in Arabic and English; covering all aspects of medical microbiology and human infectious diseases especially antimicrobial resistance.
