Dr Aguirre received his BSc degree and MSc in Biochemistry from the University of Havana (Cuba) and his PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine from the Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain). He completed his training at the Institute of Animal Sciences (ICA, La Habana), the University Hospital “Ramón y Cajal” (Madrid) and the National Centre for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC, Madrid). Now he works as Research Scientist at the Institute of Biomedical Research from the University Hospital “La Paz” (IdiPAZ, Madrid). He has received different awards throughout his professional activity. He has published more than 20 papers and 40 abstracts. His major area of research is related to epigenetics of human complex genetic diseases.
Dr Aguirre research interests include the genetic causes of cardiovascular and immunological diseases, and cancer immunotherapy.
