Dr.Jeswinder Sian-Hülsmann ( MPharm, PhD) is a neuropharmacologist. She conducted her Doctorate of Philosophy in “Brain glutathione in neurodegenerative disorders affecting the basal ganglia in man”, at Kings College London. She has worked as a post-doctoral research fellow in a number of reputable instituitions including, the Institute of Neurology (London); Department of Neurology (Hammersmith Hospital, London); Institute of Psychiatry (University of Wurzburg, Germany).Her main expertise in neuroscience is neurochemistry and pathophysiology in Parkinson’s disease. She is the author of 23 scientific abstracts and papers, 5 review articles in international scientific journals and 3 book chapters.She is currently attached to the University of Nairobi as a lecturer in the department of Medical Physiology and lectures both under graduate medical students and graduates. This also includes supervision of masters and PhD research projects. In addition, she is working on the possibility of setting up a primate research project in movement disorders as a collaborative venture.
Dr. Jeswinder Sian-Hulsmann’s areas of interest are in the, process (es) involved in neuronal destruction, neurochemical, pathophysiological, clinical and treatment aspects of the following neurodegenerative disorders, Incidental Lewy body disease (ILBD), Parkinson’s Disease (PD), Multiple Systems Atrophy (MSA), Huntington’s Disease (HD), Motor Neuron Disease (MND).
