Dr. Giusy Amadoro, PhD, is a biologist, medical specialist in Biochemical and Clinical Chemistry (2001) and a PhD in Neuroscience obtained in 2007 at University “Tor Vergata”, Rome. Since 2006 she works in Rome with a full time position as Researcher of National Research Council (CNR)-Institute of Translational Pharmacology (IFT). Her main expertise is in Neuroscience, in particular in biology of tau in health and disease. She is the author of 38 peer-reviewed articles in international scientific journals, 5 book chapters and the inventor of a patent aimed at diagnosis of human tauopathies. Her current research activities are focused on dissecting the molecular mechanisms underlying tau-mediated neurodegeneration by a combination of experimental approaches, including in vitro and in vivo model systems.
Dr. Giusy Amadoro's research interests are physiopathology of tau, synucleins, amyloid beta precursor proteins (APPs) and other misfolding proteins in Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s disease (PD), frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and related neurodegenerative disorders of aging.
