Biography

Dr. Nektarios Barabutis is a Research Assistant Professor in the Old Dominion University. His current research is focused on the mechanism which mediate the function of the pulmonary barrier function. He has recently demonstrated that the transcription factor p53 exerts a protective role on the LPS induced vascular hyperpermeability. His work has so far resulted in numerous first authored and co - authored original research contributions in International peer reviewed journals of high caliber (i.e 2 first authored papers in P.N.A.S). He is currently serving as a reviewer for more than 30 journals and he has recently awarded the prestigious “Herman Rahn Award for Excellence in Pulmonary Research” by the American Physiological Society. Among his other findings on the field of the endocrine related cancer, he has introduced the Antioxidant Activity of Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone Antagonists (USA Patent US20100152114 A1)
