Biography

Dr. Zanier-Gomes is a professor of the Biochemistry, Pharmacology and Physiology Department of the Federal University of Triângulo Mineiro (UFTM), Brazil. She undertook her PhD in the Pharmacology Department of Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP), Brazil. Dr. Zanier-Gomes researches animal models of depression and anxiety, and new pharmacological approaches to treat major depression and anxiety. She teaches pharmacology to all healthcare area courses of the University, with emphasis on central nervous system. Dr. Zanier-Gomes coordinates Neuroscience research and extension programs. Her research has been developed in the neuroscience and neuropharmacological field based on animal behavior.


Research Interest

Dr. Zanier-Gomes is interested in animal models of mental disorders based on animal behavior. Her research is focused on anxiety and depression, through forced swimming test, tail suspension test, open field and elevated plus maze. She has developed new animal models of both disorders and has evaluated the effect of different substances in order to treat them.
