Biography

Dr. Mohamed had a joint position between the J David Gladstone Research institutes at UCSF, USA and the Cardiovascular Research Institute at the University of Manchester, UK (2013-2016) to carry out cutting edge research to try to treat heart failure using induced pluripotent stem cells derived cardiomyocytes cell therapy. In the past 12 years his research has focused on investigating novel mechanisms and therapies for cardiac hypertrophy and heart failure in animal models. As a pharmacist he had a special interest in the translation of his findings into human drug therapy for heart disease and he is currently using stem cell therapeutic approaches for heart failure treatment. Currently, Dr. Mohamed started to develop his findings towards clinical application at Tenaya Therapuetics to conduct the first in human clinical trial for heart regeneration.
