Biography

Assoc. Prof. PhDr. Blanka Klímová, M.A., Ph.D. is head of the Department of Applied Linguistics at the Faculty of Informatics and Management of the University of Hradec Králové, Czech Republic. She is also a member of the Academic Senate of the University of Hradec Králové. In her pedagogical activities she is mainly ivolved in the teaching of English for Specific Purposes and Academic Writing. She is also a supervisor of doctoral students. In addition, she is a part-time researcher of the University Hospital Hradec Králové where she cooperates with the Department of Neurology in their research on neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease.


Research Interest

Blanka Klímová is one of the key researchers at the University of Hradec Králové for which she has been twice awarded by rector and the Czech Saving Bank. She has been the key investigator and a member of two Grant Academy of the Czech Republic projects. She has also participated as the main investigator in several internal university projects of Excelence such as Economic, cognitive and technological analyses of the needs of aging population groups. She has had 126 original and review articles in Web of Knowledge with H index 6. Her main areas of research are application of information and communication technologies for the improvement of quality of life of older population groups, as well as research on non-pharmacological approaches to the improvement of quality of life of these people. She is a member of several Editorial Boards, chair or member of conference committees both at home and abroad, an editor of several scientific conference proceedings, and a court interpreter and translator.
