Prof. Giovanni NORMANNO, was born in Foggia the 2/01/1967. After the degree in Veterinary Medicine on 28/6/94, he specialized in Infectious Diseases, Prophylaxis and Police Veterinary in 1996. On 2000 he was nominated University Researcher at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Bari for the science disciplinary VET/04, the Food Inspection. On 2005 he was nominated Associate Professor, at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Bari for the science disciplinary VET/04, the Food Inspection. After that, he was component of the College of Teachers of several PhD i.e. “Microbiology, Chemistry and the Health Food ", “Production, Quality and Safety of Food of Animal Origin, " and was component of the Graduate School of Specialization "Breeding and Hygiene, Pathology of aquatic species and control products” and “Food Inspection". He was President of the specialization school in “Inspection and Control of Food of animal Origin”. His educational activities from 2000 to the present at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Bari and at the Department of Science of Agriculture, Food and the Environment of Foggia gave the following disciplines: Food Microbiology; Hygiene and Control of fishery products; Inspection and Control of poultry, rabbit and game meats; Biotechnology and methodologies applied to the production of food and hygiene; Microbiological analysis of food; Nutritional and hygienic quality of fishery products; Slaughter technology; Inspection and Control of breeding fishery products.
His research activities focused mainly on the study of bacterial foodborne pathogens and the risk linked to the consumption of food of animal origin contaminated with these pathogens.
