Dr. Xiulei Zhang, MD, MPH is an experienced public health professional working for Shandong Provincial Chest Hospital, Jinan, China. He has been serving as Director of TB Control and Prevention Division since 2012, involving in producing strategic plans and providing policy advices to provincial health authority, and providing leadership and technical guidance to over 140 county level TB dispensaries on the implementation of TB programs. He worked as Technical Officer at Dept. of Essential Medicine and Health Products, Headquarter/World Health Organization in 2015-2016, participating in Speeding Treatments to End Paediatric TB (STEP TB) project developed by the Global Alliance for TB Drug Development and WHO to make available to children with TB in affected countries new formulations conforming to WHO’s guidelines. In Oct-Dec 2006, He completed his Fellowship of TB training at Germany Central TB Committee at Berlin, Germany. In Jan-Dec 2000 he worked as Visiting Scholar at Communicable Disease Control Unit, Newcastle General Hospital, Newcastle, England. He obtained his Master Degree in Public Health from University of Leeds, UK in 2004, and his MD from Jining Medical College, China in 1994. He is active Committee member of Tuberculosis Control Group, Chinese Medical Association, member of China Altituberculosis Association, and Chair of Tuberculosis Control Branch of Shandong Anti-tuberculosis Association. He has published over 20 peer reviewed papers, and authored two books regarding TB control.
