Dr. Jozelio Freire de Carvalho holds a medical degree from the Bahiana School of Medicine and Public Health (1997), medical residencies in Internal Medicine (1998-1999), Intensive Medicine (2000) and Rheumatology (2001-2002) at Hospital das Clínicas, Faculty of Medicine, University of Sao Paulo; PhD in Sciences - Area of Concentration in Rheumatology, Faculty of Medicine, University of São Paulo (2005), Post-Doctorate by the Center for Autoimmune Diseases of Sheba Medical Center, affiliated with Tel Aviv University, Israel (2006-2007). Free Professor, Department of Clinical Medicine, University of São Paulo School of Medicine (2011). Associate Professor (2007-2011) of the Rheumatology Department of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo. Internationa Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology, member of the Paulista Society of Rheumatology and of the Brazilian Society of Rheumatology, member of the Pan American League of Associations for Rheumatology and Of the Association of Brazilian Intensive Medicine. He currently works at the Aliança Hospital Medical Center in Salvador, Bahia. Former volunteer doctor of the Rheumatology Service of the University Hospital Prof. Edgard Santos, Federal University of Bahia, Salvador, Bahia. Associate Professor Class A Level 1 (visitor) of the Institute of Health Sciences of the Federal University of Bahia. He has experience in the area of Medicine, with emphasis in Rheumatology, acting mainly on the following subjects: immunobiological, antiphospholipid syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus, connective tissue diseases, rheumatological diseases of childhood and adolescence, autoimmunity, autoantibodies, dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis.
