Biography

Dr. Camila Halal received her medical training at the Catholic University of Pelotas (UCPEL), Brazil, from 2002 to 2007, and undertook her training in Paediatrics and Paediatric Neurology at Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (HCPA), Brazil, from 2008 to 2012. She has been engaged in research since her medical training, having worked as a research assistant in Scientific Initiation at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPEL), Brazil, from 2004 to 2007 in the Project: “The 2004 Pelotas Birth Cohort”. She holds a Master Degree in Medicine (with focus in Neurosciences) from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS), Brazil, and is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree from that same University. She was awarded the International Pediatric Sleep Association (IPSA) Young Investigator Award in 2014, for the work derived from her Master’s dissertation. She is a Board-Certified Paediatrician (Brazilian Society of Paediatrics and the Brazilian Medical Association) and Paediatric Neurologist (Brazilian Society of Paediatrics, Brazilian Academy of Neurology, and the Brazilian Medical Association). She works as a paediatric neurologist at Conceição Children´s Hospital (Grupo Hospitalar Conceição, Porto Alegre, Brazil), and is currently in training in Clinical Neurophysiology at PUCRS.
