Tim H Tanaka, Ph.D. (medical science, 1996) is the director of The Pacific Wellness Institute, Toronto. He is a nationally licensed acupuncturist in Japan and Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner in Ontario, Canada. Dr. Tanaka was the recipient of the World Federation of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Society’s 1996 Excellent Research Award for his study on Somatic Reaction Induced by Acupuncture Stimulation. He has been appointed Visiting Research Fellow at Faculty of Health Sciences, Tsukuba University of Technology in Japan. While Dr. Tanaka is well versed on all aspects of traditional Asian medicine, he also values the benefits of modern scientific based approaches, including therapeutic applications based on heart rate variability biofeedback and applied psychophysiology research. He is a Fellow of the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance. Dr. Tanaka has co-authored textbooks on East Asian medicine therapeutics, as well a book on infertility discussing various conventional and alternative reproductive medical approaches. He has also authored a number of research papers published in peer-reviewed medical journals and has lectured extensively across the globe. In one of his recent research, he conducted correlation analysis between TCM tongue assessment and various menstrual symptoms.
