Dr Krystallenia Alexandraki is a Specialist in Endocrinology (greek CST). She graduated from University of Chieti “G.D’ ANNUNZIO” with full marks 108/110. She received a MSc in Health Management by the Social Sciences School, Open University, Greece. She received a second MSc in Clinical Biochemistry with suma cum laude and PhD in Endocrinology with suma cum laude by the Medical School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. She also undertook a Postdoctoral Fellowship supported by the State Scholarship Foundation, Greece in Clinical Biochemistry, Medical School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, and a three-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neuroendocrinology at the Department of Endocrinology, St Bartholomew’s Hospital and Centre for Endocrinology, William Harvey Research Institute, Barts and the London School of Medicine, Queen Mary University of London, UK. She has several publications on Cushing’s syndrome and particularly on Cushing’s disease while she recently described the criteria for Cyclic Cushing’s disease receiving the ‘Merck Outstanding Abstract Award’ in The Endocrine Society’s 90th annual meeting, San Francisco, in 2008. She is author of 91 scientific papers, chapters in textbooks and electronic journals and 191 abstracts in conference proceedings. Her publications have an impact factor of 246,667 and received 2884 citations. She received several scholarships in her undergraduate and postgraduate studies as from University of Chieti “G.D.’ ANNUNZIO”, Medical School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, State Scholarship Foundation, Greece, Foundation Alexander S.Onassis, public benefit foundation (twice), Hellenic Society of Endocrinology, Foundation of Vardionoyiannis. She is a member of 8 medical societies. Her interest to Neuroendocrine Neoplasms is not limited only to her clinical and lab research but to her clinical practice by her participation to set up the first outpatient clinic in Greece treating Endocrine Neoplasms and Gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumours on September of 2012 and to set up a second outpatient clinic treating Endocrine Neoplasms of Pituitary and Hypophalamic diseases since July of 2015. On January 2017 her Department was approved as Head of a Center of Excellence for Neuroendocrine Neoplasms Management. Moreover, after the weekly multidisciplinary team (MDT) tumour board experience she had at St Bartholomew’s Hospital for patients with endocrine neoplasms, she participates monthly at three tumour board MDT meetings (two for Neuroendocrine Neoplasms and one for Adrenal Diseases) at Laiko University Hospital. She has been recently elected executive member on ENEA (European NeuroeEndocrine Association).
Krystallenia I Alexandraki research interest includes pituitary diseases, neuroendocrine tumours, polycystic ovarian syndrome and inflammation markers (diabetes, cancer). Her recent studies are focused to neuroendocrine diseases and neuroendocrine tumours.
