Dr. Carla V. Sesarini, Msc in Sciences Biology (Facultad de Ciencias Exactas) and PhD (Facultad de Medicina) from Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is a Scientist at the Instituto de Ciencias Básicas y Medicina Experimental (ICBME), Instituto Universitario, Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires. Sesarini works in the analysis of the genetic basis of neural connectivity disorders in Autism Spectrum Disorder patients. Her research specifically analyzes molecular variants in GABAergic neurotransmission genes in ASD patients, their relatives and a control population. She also incorporates electrophysiological data from patients to find a correlation between molecular alterations and seizures. During her scientific research career, she attended several courses abroad, scientific meetings and did a scientific residence. She is also responsible for the research activities in the specialized degree in “Clinical Psychology of Children, Adolescents and Family” at the Instituto Universitario del Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires and acted as a reviewer in international scientific journals.
Dr. Carla V Sesarini’s research is focused on Autism Spectrum Disorder and GABAergic neurotransmission.
