Biography

Annia Schreiber is a pneumologist and full-time staff physician at the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Unit of the Istituti Clinici Scientifici Maugeri in Pavia, Italy. She currently holds a research Fellowship on lung and diaphragm ultrasound in lung and diaphragm ultrasound in patients with acute respiratory failure at the “Département d’Anesthésie-Réanimation Hôpital Pitié-Salpêtrière, Faculté de Médecine Pierre et Marie Curie UPMC-Paris VI”, Paris, France. She earned her degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Torino where she also continued her training to specialize in Respiratory Medicine. She is an instructor of Winfocus Lung Ultrasound Basic and Advanced Courses and holds the Winfocus Certificate of Teaching in Lung Ultrasound for Anesthesia and Intensive Care. She has participated as a speaker at numerous national and international congresses and courses in the field of mechanical ventilation and lung ultrasound. She has authored and co-authored numerous original peer-reviewed papers, review articles and book chapters on lung ultrasound, weaning, mechanical ventilation (invasive and non-invasive) and long-term management of tracheostomy.

Her primary clinical and research interests are: lung ultrasound, diaphragm ultrasound, weaning, non-invasive and invasive mechanical ventilation, long-term management of tracheostomy, sleep-disordered breathing, pulmonary rehabilitation in critically-ill patients, neuromuscular diseases, infectious diseases, COPD, cystic fibrosis.
