Professor Elahi bring expertise and skill in general adult cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, complex congenital / paediatric cardiac surgery, surgery for aortic diseases, CCRT placements, MICS aortic and mitral valve, off-pump CABGs, mechanical circulatory support (LVADs, RVADs,) heart and lung transplant. Professor Elahi also established an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization named CardiacEye International Foundation (www.cardiaceye.com) to provide free and affordable adult and pediatric heart surgeries around the world in underdeveloped and developing countries. Professor Elahi developed basic, translational and clinical research, and brought the cutting-edge biomedical research findings from the bench to the bedside. My work in basic and clinical work has culminated over 170 peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals of repute. Moreover, he have authored four books in the area of oxidative stress, mostly due to external environmental stress factors including high fat diets.
Professor Elahi's research interests include Blood- Dependent Redox Activity during Extracorporeal Circulation in ischemic heart disease,Defining Gene Silencing for Gene Therapy in Preventing Early Origin of Atherosclerosis, The Role of Endothelial Progenitor cells in Tissue Engineering,The Biology of Nitric Oxide in Ischemia-Reperfusion Induced Organ Injury, The Role of Gene Encoding at Position –308 in the Promoter Region of the Tumour Necrosis Factor in Ethnicity-Specific risk of Coronary Heart Disease,Investigations in to Early Developmental Origins of Coronary Artery Disease and its relation with Predictive Adaptive Response Phenomenon.
