Dr. Vedhathiri Thanikachalam is a former Professor and HOD, Center for International Affairs, Program Executive for Continuing Education, and Nodal Officer- National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chennai, India, and Executive Consultant in Engineering Education and HRD.
He possesses 40 years of experience in teaching, research in Civil engineering and HRD, and consultancy projects in institutional development of engineering institutes. He also published around 200 papers, books and reports in Engineering Education, Civil Engineering and Human Resource Management in peer reviewed journals and conferences.
He is founder professor of Masterís Degree in Human Resource Development and Overseas Advanced Certificate Programs for Teachers and executives in HRD, Curriculum Development and Instructional Material Development, and Technical Education Planning. He also coordinated the overseas faculty development programs for 30 years and Asian Programme for Educational Innovation for Development of UNESCO, Bangkok.
He successfully completed sponsored research and development programs and projects under Asian Development Bank, UNDP, UNESCO and World Bank and guided 18 scholars for PhD in Engineering Education, 15 Master degree dissertations and 50 project works of overseas teachers and executives.
He is former Fulbright Scholar, honored member of Pi Lambda Theta, Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India) and Fellow of Indian Geotechnical Society. He is Lifetime member of Indian Society for Training and Development and Indian Society for Technical Education. He holds honourable position as Editor for five professional journals in engineering, education and management; scripted 12 video programs in engineering education and HRD, edited text books and published through Oxford University Press, S Chand & Co, and TATA McGraw Hill Publishing Company. He conducted two International Conferences in Engineering Education and one National Conference in HRD.
