Dr. Pragya Sharma is a clinical psychologist and faculty at the Department of Clinical Psychology, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital at New Delhi, India. She has completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi and MPhil Clinical Psychology from Institute of Human Behavior and Allied Sciences (IHBAS). Dr. Sharma’s clinical work deals chiefly with the diagnosis, assessment and treatment of clients of all ages suffering from mood and anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, dissociative disorders, chronic pain, attention deficit hyperactivity disorders and autism. She provides Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Mindfulness based therapies, Interpersonal Therapy, Couple and Family therapy. As a faculty, Dr Sharma is involved in the teaching and training of MPhil Clinical Psychology trainees.
Her research primarily involves working with adolescents with headache and anxiety disorders. She has done pioneering work in developing a module of transdiagnostic cognitive behavior therapy (TCBT) for these adolescents. The focus of this research has been on working with adolescents to remit comorbid headache and anxiety disorders with a single treatment module. More recently, her specific interest involves examining the cognitive schemas in mental health professionals versus non-mental health professionals. Another topic of interest is the role of family accommodation in the symptom severity of obsessive compulsive disorder. She is the chief guide of both these research works in progress by MPhil trainees. Dr Sharma is the member of American Psychological Association (APA), and lifetime member of Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists (IACP). She is certified by Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). She has published numerous papers in various reputed journals.
