Biography

Dr. Moitra obtained his Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degree in Physiology from India and has worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Respiratory Medicine and Allergology at Lund University, Sweden. At present, he is attached with Allergy and Asthma Research Centre in Kolkata as a Scientific Consultant. He was a receiver of the prestigious INSPIRE Fellowship from the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Government of India for doctoral research and many other academic awards and is a member of a number of international societies including the European Respiratory Society, European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and the Royal Society of Public Health. His research is primarily focussed to the occupational and environmental risk factors leading to obstructive and interstitial lung diseases. However, he has a wide range of research interest that includes physiological, immunological and molecular aspects of these diseases and also characterization of their risk factors. He is reviewer of several respiratory and occupational medicine journals and is a well-known author in the field of occupational lung disease.
