Biography

Dr. Dott Lorenzo Nigro graduated in "Medicine and Surgery" in 2011 at "Sapienza" University of Rome discussing the thesis “Intradural Extramedullary Tumors”. From 2012 he is registrar in Neurosurgery at "Sapienza" University of Rome dealing with all the aspects of Neurosurgery, both emergency and elective cases. He is involved in particular with cervical, thoracic, lumbo-sacral spinal diseases. In 2014 he completed a 1-month observership at the department of Neurosurgery at Indiana University School of Medicine where he followed the neurosurgical activity of Dr Aaron Cohen-Gadol observing the management and treatment of challenging skull base and vascular neurosurgical diseases. In 2015 he completed a 1-year period working as Neurosurgical registrar at Southmead Hospital, UK. During this period Dr Nigro carried out all the responsibilities of a Neurosurgical Registrar including elective and emergency operating, outpatient clinics and acting as on-call Registrar, managing emergency referrals. In UK, he was particularly involved in the Neurosurgical management and treatment of Neuro-oncologic patients. Dott. Lorenzo Nigro is currently working as Neurosurgical registrar at "Sapienza" University of Rome and he has 10 articles indexed on PubMed and published in important international journals as Neurosurgery, European Spine Journal, Neurosurgical Review, Acta Neurochirurgica, Journal of Neurosurgery: Spine. His research involves in particular the spinal diseases.
