Biography

Dr. Ioannis A Mavroudis is a Specialist Neurologist, subspecializing in diagnostic neuropathology. Born in Thessaloniki, Greece in 1979 and graduated from the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2004. He received his PhD at 2013, on Neuromorphology, Neuropathology and 3D neuronal reconstructions. He worked as a Neurologist and Neuropathologist in Greece and in the UK. He is a member of the British Royal College of Pathologists, of the Hellenic Neurological Society and the American Association for the Advancemet of Science. He has been a research and teaching fellow of the Laboratory of Neuropathology and Electron Microscopy of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece for more than 10 years, and he have collaborated with the Laboratory of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, with the Department of Biology of the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iasi, Romania and with the Laboratory of Translational Neurosciences, University of Aberdeen, UK. He has published many papers mainly focusing on neuronal alterations during normal ageing and in Alzheimer's disease, and he also participated as an invited speaker in numerous international congresses and scientific symposia. He has been awarded many prizes in international congresses, and scientific programs. He is the founder and the general manager of the Greek online Knowledge Base of Neurology (https://myneurology.eu) and from August 2016 He is a visiting Lecturer for the University of Leeds.


Research Interest

Dr. Ioannis A Mavroudis’s research interests are focusing on neuropathology of neurodegenerative diseases, on dendritic and spinal alterations during normal ageing and in Alzheimer's disease, and on 3D neuronal reconstructions.
