Professor Angel Montejo PhD, MD is full Professor of Psychiatry and Medical Psychology at the University of Salamanca, Spain. In addition, Professor Montejo is head of the Neuroscience Research Area of the Biomedical Institute in Salamanca (IBSAL), President and Director of Research of the SACyL Society of Psychiatry and Chairman of the Spanish Association of Sexuality and Mental Health. He was also president of the Spanish Working Group for the Optimisation of Treatment in Schizophrenia. He has developed the PRSexDQ-Salsex Questionnaire (Psychotropic–Related Sexual Dysfunction Questionnaire (2000) validated for depression and schizophrenia and translated into multiple languages, including English, French, German, Italian, Greek, Polish Portuguese, Danish, Chinese and Japanese. Professor Montejo earned his medical degree and PhD in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Salamanca, and he completed training in Psychiatry at Maryland (USA), Maudsley Hospital (London), Karolinska Institute (Stockholm), University of Columbia (New York), Massachusetts Gen Hospital (Boston) and others. He has been involved as principal Investigator in more than 85 phase I, II and phase III clinical trials related to psychopharmacology. He has more than 190 publications in books and psychiatric journals, receiving around 3.000 cites, as well as seven books. Professor Montejo is a member of several international and national scientific associations and international advisory boards. He is also member of a numerous editorial staff and referee of several national and international psychiatry journals.
research interests are sexuality and psychiatry, psychotropic-related sexual dysfunctions, iatrogenic hyperprolactinemia secondary to antipsychotics. He’s strongly involved in the development of new compounds for severe mental diseases, psychopharmacology, depression, and schizophrenia.
