Adelaide Almeida is an Assistant Professor with Habilitation at the Department of Biology from the University of Aveiro (Portugal), where she got her Ph.D. degree, in 2001. She is an integrated member of the Associated Laboratory Centre for Environmental and Marine Sciences (CESAM). She taught theoretical, theoretical-practical and practical classes in several undergraduate and postgraduate courses. She has been in charge of the supervision of 110 undergraduate students and 78 graduate students. She has participated in 32 national research projects and 3 European projects. She is the coordinator of 4 of these research projects, coordinator at the University of Aveiro of 2 projects and researcher in the remaining 29 projects. She is an Academic Editor of Plos One and of SM Journal of Hepatitis Research and she has been a regular reviewer of scientific papers for other journals. She was the inventor of two national patents and published 3 books, 13 book chapters, 3 theses, 164 scientific papers in indexed serial publications. She is a member of the Pedagogical Council of the University of Aveiro, integrating the Permanent Commission for Cooperation and Innovation, and is a member of the Department Council of the Department of Biology. She is the coordinator of the Marine Microbiology and Biotechnology Laboratory of CESAM and a member of the Extended Coordination Committee of this Center. Since 2005, she has been in charge of the Laboratory of Radioisotopes of the Department of Biology of the University of Aveiro. He is responsible for the research team of the Laboratory of Applied Microbiology (Integrated in the Laboratory of Microbiology and Marine Biotechnology of CESAM) since 2001
