Dr. Amit Lahiri has received his doctoral degree in Microbiology from Indian Institute of Science in India in 2009. He completed his postdoctoral work from Yale University School of Medicine, USA at 2015. Currently he is employed as a scientist at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, USA. Dr. Lahiri has received Gold Medal for best PhD thesis and Research Fellowship Award from ‘Crohn and Colitis Foundation of America’ as Principal Investigator. His research papers have been cited in over 500 publications. He investigated how recently identified genetic risk factors of various auto-immune and inflammatory disorders affect diverse immunological outcomes. He has determined role and mechanisms of interactions between gut microbiota and the host in various immunological processes. Dr. Amit Lahiri has strong background in cellular mechanisms leading to human immune diseases, with proficiency in microbiology immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology and biostatistics.
