Dr. Hérida Regina Nunes Salgado is a Full Professor in Quality Control of Pharmaceutics at Universidade Estadual Paulista (University of São Paulo State), in Araraquara city, Brazil. She is an industrial pharmacist and presents a Masters degree in Pharmacy, and a doctorate in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Dr. Salgado was a PhD sandwich student at Birmingham University in the UK from 1998 to 1999 and Post-doctoral Researcher affiliated with the University of Auckland, New Zealand, from 2004 to 2005. She has over twenty years experience of quality control in pharmaceutical research. This includes experience of designing and validating of innovative analytical methods to control drugs and pharmaceuticals including antibiotics, non sterile products, cosmetics and medicinal plants. She is highly motivated and organized pharmaceutical academic scientist with over two decades of research and teaching experience in quality control of conventional and novel drug delivery systems, cosmetics and phytocosmetics. As part of the job profiles and in assignments with national editorials boards for scientific journals, she has actively managed all aspects of research, i.e., project conception, networking, funding applications, laboratory research, administration, finance, human resources, intellectual property, technology transfers, and over than 250 publications. Her research results have been published in international and national congresses as well as in high impact factor journals in Pharmaceutics Quality Control area. In addition, she is a supervisor with the School Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of São Paulo State (UNESP) for the M.Sc and PhD courses. She had supervised 5 postdocs, 13 PhD, 23 MSc students, 6 abroad students, and more than 100 graduated students. Nowadays she is supervisor of 3 postdocs, 5 PhD, 3 MSc and 16 pharmacy students. Moreover, she is a committee member of the Brazilian Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences (ABCF). Dr. Salgado also acted as a consultant, expert witness and technical advisor to quality control of API and medicines, non-sterile products. She has written over 250 peer reviewed papers relating to pharmaceutical quality control. In addition, she has written three chapters and one book. She was Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences in two terms (2007-2010, 2010-2013). Dr. Hérida Salgado is a member of the CAPES Evaluation Committee of the Pharmacy Graduate Program of Brazil and Member of Brazilian Pharmacopeia Committee and she has a Researcher fellowship from CNPq, since 2001, and level 1D since 2010.
