She has been a registered nurse since 2003 with background in rural health and emergency medicine. She received her Masters of Science in Nursing and Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Frontier Nursing University. Her clinical practice is focused on family medicine with a strong background working with homeless health and refugee populations. Past areas of research includes mental health screening and care of refugee populations in the community health setting. Her pilot project for implementation of refugee mental health screening process was published in 2015.
Research interests include family health, pediatrics, chronic health, cultural diversity, refugee populations and mental/behavioral health.
