Biography

Education: Biology degree and Biotechnology PhD. Current position: Researcher and Assistant Professor of Microbiology at the Section of Microbiology and medical Genetics, Department of Medical Sciences, University of Ferrara (Italy). She is part of the directors board of CIAS (Centre for microbial pollution in sterile rooms, University of Ferrara), and member of the PhD Collegium in Pharmacology and Molecular Oncology of the University of Ferrara (Italy), of the Healthcare Infection Society (HIS), Italian Microbiology Society (SIM) and Italian Virology Society (SIV). Scientific production: The research activity has produced about 60 original papers in international journals, 2 chapters in scientific books and more than 100 communications at national and international meetings. Teaching: She teaches Microbiology, Clinical Microbiology and Virology at the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy and Prevention and at the post-graduation Schools of Medicine (Surgery, Dermatology, Infectious Diseases, Clinical Pathology, General Medicine), at the University of Ferrara (Italy).

Research fields: Microbiology, Infectious diseases, Virology, Molecular virology, Anti-viral immune response, Autoimmunity, Bacteriology, Healthcare-associated infections. Particularly interested in: study of environmental contamination in healthcare structures and its influence on healthcare-associated infections; herpesviruses pathogenesis; virus infection and autoimmune diseases.
