Biography

Iuliana Popa is an Associate Professor in Cosmetics, Faculty of Pharmacy, Paris-Sud University from September 2010, member of the French Society of Cosmetics board (SFC) from 2012 and member of the Scientific Council of the Cosmetic Valley from 2015. Concerning my research activity, I moved recently in the groupe of Lip(Sys)2 "Biological and analytical lipid systems" from “Galien Institute” UMR CNRS 8612 at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University Paris-Sud. Previously, I worked as associate researcher in the Laboratory of Dermatology, at INSERM U.346, Edouard Herriot Hospital, in Lyon (France) from 1999 to 2009. I defended a PhD thesis in Chemistry at Iasi University, Romania, and a second PhD thesis in Human Biology at Lyon-I University in 2003. I worked in biotechnology and polymer drug delivery in cancer treatment for about 10 years, and then I switched to the study of sphingolipid metabolism in cell biology and specificaly in melanoma cancer. For some time I have been interested in subjects related to the ceramides as metabolic precursors in skin during different diseases in dogs and humans (atopic dermatitis, ichtyosis) and during aging.
