Dr. Meharban Singh is the former Professor and Head, Department of Pediatrics and Neonatology Division, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He is one of the most eminent Pediatricians and a leading Neonatologist of the country. He established the first WHO Collaborating Centre for Training and Research in Newborn Care in South-East Asia region at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He has served as a WHO consultant and MCH Advisor to several developing countries and Director, Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health, Kabul, Afghanistan during 1979-83. He has been invited to serve as a visiting Professor of Pediatrics to several countries including Afghanistan, Iran, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Kuwait, UAE, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Republic of Maldives, UK, and USA.
He is a prolific writer and a medical teacher par excellence. He has published 15 books on various aspects of Pediatrics and Neonatology, 40 chapters in Pediatric textbooks, 5 Monographs on various aspects of Neonatology, and over 325 research papers, reviews and editorials in National and International Medical Journals. He has kept all his books alive by bringing out revised and updated editions at regular intervals. He has been conferred the Fellowships by a large number of Academic Bodies. He has delivered over 40 prestigious Endowment Lectures and Orations. He has been conferred the Life Time Achievement Award by National Neonatology Forum of India. He has served as the Secretary-General and President of the National Neonatology Forum of India and President of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics. He is currently working as a consultant Pediatrician at Child Care Centre, Arun Vihar, Noida.
