Dr. Barbara McKenzie received her PhD in Pharmaceutics in 2011 from the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland. During her PhD study, she investigated various alternative formulations of cysteamine, including ophthalmic gels. Her PhD work also encompassed rheology, ex vivo analysis of ophthalmic bioadhesion and accelerated stability testing. In 2013, she became a lecturer in the School of Pharmacy and Life Sciences at the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. Her research focuses on cystinosis treatments and ocular modelling. She has published many original research articles in well-recognized journals including the International Journal of Pharmaceutics and the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences. She has also presented her works in numerous international scientific conferences.
