Birhanu Hadush ABERA, born 20 May 1980, was awarded the Degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 2004 from Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. He obtained Master’s degree in Tropical Animal Health (Disease Control) in 2010, from Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) Antwerp, Belgium. In 2016, he obtained PhD from Katolieke Universiteit of Leuven, Leuven and ITM, Belgium. For a year and half, he worked as farm manger and animal health expert in Livestock Export Private Enterprises (2004-2006). In mid of 2006 he joined College of Veterinary Medicine, Mekelle University, Ethiopia where he is currently working in Academics, Research and Community services at a rank of Associate Professor. In 2007, he has been awarded the best academic staff of the college. He teaches and advises both postgraduate and undergraduate students. Furthermore, currently, he is head of College Research and Community Services council and has worked as Vice Dean, Department Head and Assistant Registrar. Till 11 January 2017, he has published 18 articles in peer reviewed international journals and made 14 scientific presentations in National and International Scientific Missions. He is active member of Professional associations: OIE-Non-Tsetse Transmitted Animal Trypanosmosis (NTTAT) adhoc-committee, Ethiopian Veterinary Association (EVA); and Ethiopian Society of Tropical And Infectious Diseases (ESTAIDs).
