Research Interests My research interests focus on understanding the neural mechanisms underlying addiction in order to improve addiction treatment and reduce relapse (especially for ketamine, amphetamine and nicotine). Toward this end, I utilize functional and structural magnetic resonance imaging to understand how brain regions are affected by addiction. My current research focuses on integrating psychopharmacological and neuroimaging methods to investigate the treatment of addiction and its effects on brain. Considering the high relapse rates in addicts, I am interesting in finding most effective strategies for preventing relapse into addictions, with a specific focus on comprehensive and individualized interventions (e.g. combined pharmacotherapy with cognitive behavioral interventions, motivational enhancement therapy).
