Dr. Wilson F Ramirez-Duarte has completed his BVM, PhD in pharmacology and toxicology from the University of California-Davis. His research experience includes chronic and acute toxic effects of herbicides and surfactants on enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants, and oxidative and morphological damage in fish; effects of environmental factors (e.g. water acidification and ultraviolet radiation) as well as metals on fish health; developing strategies to improve water quality and increase survival during shipment of ornamental fish; and aquaculture.

Biochemical and physiological responses of fish to toxicants with a special focus on enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants and oxidative damage; toxicology of fish; ecotoxicology; aquatic pollution; veterinary toxicology.
