Dr. Candice Sant was awarded a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree with Honours from the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of the West Indies in 2003. She then worked in private practice until 2010. She re-joined the School of Veterinary Medicine as a Teaching Assistant in the area of Veterinary Clinical Pathology in 2010. She was awarded a Masters of Philosophy (MPhil) degree with high commendation in Veterinary Clinical Medicine in 2016 for her research on equine piroplasmosis in Trinidad. She has attended several conferences to deliver both oral and poster presentations. She received an award for the best poster in recognition for the best contribution in the field of Tropical and Veterinary Medicine at the joint TTP8 &STVM12 conference held in Cape Town, South Africa in 2014. She also received a Young Scientist award at the combined International Congress European Society of Veterinary Virology (ESVV) and Network of Excellence for Epizootic disease diagnostic and control (EPIZONE) in 2015. She is now employed as an Instructor in Veterinary Parasitology in the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of the West Indies
