Biography

Dr. Mazcorro received his degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon (UANL, 2005) and his Ph.D. from the Gastrointestinal Laboratory at Texas A&M University (2011) for his work on the gastrointestinal microbiota of small animals. In 2012, he started a lecturer/assistant Professor position in the School of Veterinary Medicine at the UANL. In the same School, Dr. Mazcorro now serves as a full-time Faculty member holding several administrative and other duties. His research focuses on the use of molecular and computational tools to study complex microbial ecosystems. He is the leader of a small research group called Medical EcoBiology. In collaboration with several groups of researchers, he has published several peer-reviewed research and review papers. He has presented his research in multiple national and international platforms, including the prestigious Symposium of the International Society of Microbial Ecology.
