Research Interest

Marcella Reale’s research is focused on link between neurodegenerative disease and immune system. Her current interests include the modulation of non-neuronal anti-inflammatory pathway of cholinergic system in peripheral blood cells and the mechanisms for a7nAChR–based pathways in establishing production of inflammatory cytokines and M1/M2 polarization as well as possible strategies for new therapeutical intervention. In addition the biological effects of ELF-EMF exposure on neurodegenerative diseases, immune system and inflammatory responses.
