Maja Vinković was born on 9th October 1977 in Osijek where she finished high school and graduated with honors in 1996. In 2003 she graduated at the University of Zagreb, Medical faculty Osijek. She finished the internship in Clinical Hospital Osijek and worked as a general practitioner from 2003-2005. Since 2005 she has worked at the Department of Ophthalmology Clinical Hospital Osijek and she passed a specialist examination in ophthalmology in 2010. From 2013-2015 she has worked as a retinal fellow at the Clinic of Ophthalmology University Hospital Zagreb and in 2015 she finished her fellowship programme. Currently she works as a retinologist at the Department of Ophthalmology in Clinical Hospital Centre Osijek. She has studied at Scientific postgraduate doctoral study „Biomedicine and health” at Medical faculty Osijek and earned a PhD degree with thesis „Combined treatment of retinal vein occlusion with intravitreal application of triamcinolone and bevacizumab“in 2013. Since 2015 she holds a position of a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Ophthalmology at Medical Faculty University of Osijek. She has worked as a part of a team as well as a study coordinator in research and clinical studies for prominent pharmaceutical companies from the US and Europe. She is a member of Croatian ophthalmological society, Croatian bioethical society, European vitreoretinal society, European retinological society and Croatian medical chamber. She is married and mother of a daughter. Of foreign languages she speaks English and German.
Medical fields of interest are diabetic retinopathy, cataract and surgery of the posterior segment of the eye, retinal vascular diseases, retinopathy of prematurity and uveitis.
