Dr Anami Gour is a Consultant in Paediatric Critical Care and Senior Lecturer at St George's University of London. He is a Visiting Professor in Global Health at King's College London.
Currently he teaches paediatric critical care, disaster and catastrophe medicine and global health.
Since 2000, he has travelled worldwide, working on behalf of child health voluntary organisations. His initial work involved setting up acute cardiac and child health services in Siberia, China, India, countries in Africa, South America, South Asia and the Middle East. During those experiences, he also developed an interest in the wider issues of sustainable and equitable healthcare.
During a sabbatical in 2010, he spent time studying the audit, governance and accountability procedures of child health non-governmental organisations. Why did child health NGOs fail to connect and work together to avoid duplication, increase efficiency and inspire funders and beneficiaries, became a central question in his research.
Apart from medicine, Dr Gour is interested in the fine arts. He studied at the Saint Martins College of Art, London, and is a producer of documentary films.
