Youry Pii is Assistant Professor in Agricultural Chemistry at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy. He got his Master Degree in Biotechnology at the University of Bologna in 2004 and in 2009 he obtained the PhD in Applied Biotechnology from the University of Verona. The scientific formation of dr. Youry Pii is mainly focused on plant nutrition and the rhizosphere processes underlying nutrients uptake. In particular, the study of the complex relationship between plant, soil and microorganisms in the process of nutrient acquisition is one of the central topics in the research activity of dr. Youry Pii. He applied thereby interdisciplinary methodologies, such as molecular biology, genomics, genetics, biochemistry, analytical chemistry and plant physiology, aimed at identifying the molecular mechanisms that control important plant traits related to mineral nutrient acquisition, biotic and abiotic stress tolerance. At present, he is author of 85 documents (26 papers indexed in Scopus; Youry Pii, SCOPUS, updated to 07.11.2016, H-Index 9, Number of Citations: 300).
a)Physiological and molecular responses to nutritional deficiencies and heavy metal stresses in model plants (e.g. cucumber, barley, tomato) and in tree plants (e.g. strawberry, apple, grapevine). b)Quality of fruits subjected to biotic and abiotic stresses; c) Interaction between plants and PGPR to improve plant nutrients uptake/use efficiency d)Rhizosphere metagenomics e)Symbiotic interaction between legumes and rhizobia f)Microbiological, functional and molecular characterization of bacterial consortia for the degradation of chlorinated compounds and agrochemicals
