Sanne MBI Botden, MD, PhD, is a pediatric surgeon in the Radboudumc – Amalia Children’s Hospital, Nijmegen, the Netherlands. She did her PhD research on laparoscopic training and the importance of haptic feedback in the training of laparoscopic suturing. For this purpose, she developed modules and models to train surgical residents and young surgeons. After obtaining her PhD she started her residency in surgery, during which she also was one of the founders of the LSS (Laparoscopic Surgical Skills) curriculum of the EAES (European association for Endoscopic Surgeons).
She specialized in pediatric surgery and started a new research line on congenital diaphragmatic hernia. The focus on this research line is the improvement of the surgical treatment of these children. She is also active in the supervision of medical students and PhD candidates.
