Irawan Satriotomo, MD, PhD is a Senior Scientist at McKnight Brain Institute, University of Florida, USA. Dr. Satriotomo received MD from University of Gadjah Mada, Indonesia and Ph.D in neuroscience from Kagawa Medical University in Japan in 2002. He worked as an assistant professor at Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology before moved to USA and worked as assistant research professor at University of Wisconsin-Madison. He joined the Center for Translational Research in Neurodegenerative Disease (CTRND), University of Florida in 2012 before joined with Center for Respiratory Research and Rehabilitation (CRRR) as senior scientist until now. His work has been complemented by studies aiming better understand the moderate repetitive intermittent hypoxia as a novel therapy for spinal cord injury (SCI) and motor neuron diseases.
His research has focused on studying neuron-glial interaction and their down-stream signaling in neurodegenerative diseases.
