Prior to this worked as professor of microbiology for nearly 7 years in VP. Chest Institute, University of Delhi, India (a leading and internationally recognized institute for teaching and research in chest diseases) and for 25 years as a faculty staff (senior lecturer, reader and professor) in the College of Medicine, University of Nigeria, and a consultant in microbiology in the University Teaching Hospital in Enugu, Nigeria. Also worked for two years in All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, and for eight and half years in the National Institute of Communicable Diseases, Delhi, India. Have been a visiting professor for short periods in medical microbiology in several universities in Nigeria and a couple of universities in India. Worked as visiting scientist in Allergy and Immunology section in the Department of Medicine, VA Medical Center and Medical College Wisconsin, Milwaukee for six months. Was employed for six months as a consultant in laboratory medicine, King Fahd Hospital, Buraidah, Saudi Arabia. Have given invited lectures in several places in USA, England, UAE. Attended many national and international conferences and gave invited lectures and presented research papers and chaired several scientific sessions. Have received several awards and prizes for outstanding research. Serving as a member of the Editorial Board of several reputed journals and have acted as referee for reviewing articles for many journals.
