Dr. Sunita Meena is a Scientist, Department of Animal Biochemistry, ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute, India. She is a graduate from Delhi University, Delhi, India and post graduate and Ph.D. in Animal Biochemistry from ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute, Haryana, India. Her master’s dissertation work was to study the “Efficacy of YGNGV-motif containing bacteriocins from LAB against alamethicin resistant mutants of Bacillus cereus” and Ph.D. project on “Evaluation of hypocholesterolemic and hypoglycemic potential of goat and camel milk”. Her publications include 9 popular articles and around 11 abstracts in training, seminars and conferences have been published so far. Research articles were published in reputable journals like Current Microbiology, Probiotics and Antimicrobial Proteins, International Dairy Journal and Journal of Dairy Research. Dr. Meena is awarded CSIR-JRF-NET from Council of Scientific & Industrial Research and ICAR-NET-ARS from Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Government of India. She is also a recipient Institutional fellowship from National Dairy Research Institute for her master’s degree. Received awards for her presentations in conference, symposiums and seminars. She is a life member of professional bodies including Society of Biological Chemists (SBC) and Probiotic Association of India.
Her interest areas of research are antimicrobial peptides and diabetes. Future research areas are focused on mechanism of action of antimicrobial peptides and mechanism of action of bioactive peptides from milk in diabetic conditions.
