He obtained his bachelor's degree in biology and specialized in microbiology, genetics and molecular biology. After his degree he studied a postgraduate course in clinical assays and started to work in clinical labs, mainly focused in the microbiology lab. His interest in industry boosted him to get a MSc in Micribiology, where he acquired important skills in the food and pharmaceutical industry needs and applications, such as quality systems, or pharmacopoeia standards and assays. After a couple of years in the pharma industry adapting assays for virology and bacteriology QC he started to work as junior researcher in microbial biotechnology, trying to obtain useful applications for industry, in Inkemia IUCT group. He reached the position of genetic engineering coordinator in the Drug Discovery department where he started to apply the principles of microbial biotechnology to obtain new biologically active molecules and new synthetic processes using biocatalysis. Improve knowledge in organic chemistry performing an official master in Sustainable Chemistry. Nowadays holds the position of Health Biotech General Coordinator in Drug Discovery department in Inkemia IUCT group, where he try to solve the chemical challenges in drug discovery business using microbial solutions, mainly using commercially available or in house developed biocatalysts. With more than 8 years of experience as a researcher, and some more not directly related with the research but with the pharmaceutical industry, he have enough experience to face some of the major problems and needs in the pharma industry related with the synthetic processes and patent-ability, reactions optimization, and the requirements for a cleaner and safer chemistry, specially using microbes to achieve it.
