Dr. Mariela Martinez Gomez was graduated in Biological Sciences from the Faculty of Science, University of the Republic (Uruguay – 2007), master's (2009) and doctorate (2014) in Molecular and Cellular Biology (Oswaldo Cruz Institute – FIOCRUZ). Currently she is a post-doctorate at the Comparative and Environmental Virology Laboratory, Regional Reference Laboratory for Rotaviruses/ WHO, Oswaldo Cruz Institute – FIOCRUZ, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Virology with emphasis in RNA viruses; Activities related to the main viruses responsible for acute viral gastroenteritis, with an emphasis on diagnosis and molecular epidemiology of rotaviruses.
