Dr. Gustavo Machado have completed all requirement for a Doctorate in Veterinary Epidemiology with emphasis in epidemiology models (February 2016), with special focus on the development of models that could contribute for disease control, mitigation and spread, from Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. He hold a Master in Veterinary epidemiology with emphasis in data analysis applied to develop traditional risk factors models from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, and he also earn an undergraduate degree, veterinary medicine, from Federal University of Santa Maria. With more than six years in data analysis, animal health promotion and epidemiology modeling, he is a proficient in the R programming language (packages: ggplot2, random Forest, dplyr/plyr, stringr, lubridate, tidyr/reshape2), SAS, Tableau, SPSS, ERSI ArcMap and Microsoft technologies. He held a variety of technical positions at national level: consulting as epidemiologist disease modeling at SEAP (Secretaria da Agricultura e Pecuária) were he was involved in the development of a SIR model in Equine Infectious Anemia; MAPA (Ministério da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento); as risk analyst at Natrifrango alimentos ltd, and finally he got approved through a public open competition to held a professor position at the preventive veterinary medicine department at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul; at international level has worked as a veterinary at the Empire Stud LLC., Hudson, New York; Minnesota Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, Saint Paul, Minnesota, and has been International Specialist: Public health and global health at the Pan American Health Organization (Washington DC) and a statistics specialist consult at the Pan American Health Organization (Washington DC) at the human animal interface.
He interested most in Epidemiology modeling as well as the deep use of Random Forest in data modeling. He also interested on traditional regression.
