Biography

Dr. Godwin Simon, works as Consultant Physician, Acute Medicine and Endocrinology at Basildon & Thurrock University Hospital. He is a Honorary Professor of Medicine at St Martinus University School of Medicine, Willmstead, Curacao. He graduated in 1993 from Medical College Thrissur, India. He finished his residency in Internal Medicine from the prestigious Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India and was granted MD in 1999. He was awarded Certificate of Completion of Training in Internal Medicine, Diabetes and Endocrinology by the Joint Committee for Higher Medical Training UK in 2009.He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians London. Dr. Simon works as Course Director for several courses, educational supervisor for undergraduate and postgraduate trainees; he is an examiner for MBBS exam, MRCP PACES clinical exam and is an assessor for postgraduate medical training. He is the Divisional Lead for Governance and Divisional Lead Appraiser at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital. He has been awarded the Chief Executive’s Clinical Effectiveness award in 2014 and 2015. He is an Editorial Board member for journals in Diabetes and Endocrinology and is a Principle Investigator in clinical studies. He has expertise in Diabetes-new therapies, obesity, bariatric surgery, osteoporosis, thyroid, pituitary and adrenal disorders. His areas of interest are Simulation training in medical education, Patient safety, Quality improvement, and Clinical trials.
